Halloween was really fun this year. These photos are the kids on the way out the door to the Ward Halloween party. This is always a really fun event and we love attending it. This year we participated in the chili cook-off and had a lot of fun making our chili. We didn’t win, but I wasn’t too bothered by that because we came out with a really tasty chili recipe we’ll definitely make again.
Leading up to Halloween every time he was asked, Parley said he was going to be Spiderman for Halloween. I confess, I was a little disappointed that I wouldn’t be making his costume because Spiderman just sounded like more trouble than he was worth. At the last minute, he changed his mind and settled on the Hulk. I was sad I didn’t get to sew him a costume, but I love the costume he ended up with and he has worn it almost every day.
Vi had absolutely no preference what she wanted to dress up as. I would have let her choose anything, but whenever I asked her, she gave me a blank stare. So I chose Batgirl for her. This was a costume I was so excited to work on and I feel like it turned out great. Her costume is based on this sketch I did. Obviously a few elements had to be omitted for the sake of my sanity and wallet, but it still turned out pretty true to my original design.
Her cape and hat turned out perfectly.
We took the kids trick-or-treating on Halloween to the Grandparents’ houses which was just right for us. They still scored a ton of candy and got to show off their costumes, but didn’t have to freeze walking around the neighborhoods and we weren’t out too late. I would have been happy to take them to do some real trick-or-treating, but by the time we were done visiting, I was so bushed, we just went home.
Overall, it was another fun year. I got to sew a bit and next year, hopefully Pax and I will dress up, too.
